DEVILS DYKE BEACHDOWN FESTIVAL 2008)
(TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION) ORDER 2008
NOTICE is hereby given that not less than seven days from the date of this notice, West Sussex County Council and Brighton & Hove City Council intend to make Orders under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to:-
(i) require all vehicles, excluding the No. 77 bus, in that length of DEVILS DYKE ROAD from its southern junction with Saddlescombe Road northwards to the properties known as Devils Dyke Cottages to travel in a northerly direction only between 0700 and 2200 hours on Thursday 21 August 2008 and Friday 22 August 2008; and
(ii) require all vehicles, excluding the No. 77 bus, in that length of DEVILS DYKE ROAD from its southern junction with Saddlescombe Road northwards to the properties known as Devils Dyke Cottages to travel in a southerly direction only from 2000 hours on Monday 25 August 2008 until 1800 hours on Tuesday 26 August 2008; and
(iii) prohibit waiting at all times on all lengths of DEVILS DYKE ROAD; and
(iv) prohibit waiting at all times along a length of SADDLESCOMBE ROAD from its junction with the A27 northwards to its northern junction with Devils Dyke Road; and
(v) prohibit any vehicle from travelling at a speed of more than 40mph along all lengths of DEVILS DYKE ROAD; and
(vi) prohibit any vehicle from travelling at a speed of more than 40mph along a length of SADDLESCOMBE ROAD from its junction with the A27 northwards to a point 0.5 miles north of its northern junction with Devils Dyke Road; and
(vii) prohibit any vehicle from overtaking any other vehicle along all lengths of DEVILS DYKE ROAD; and
(viii) prohibit any vehicle from overtaking any other vehicle along a length of SADDLESCOMBE ROAD from its junction with the A27 northwards to a point 0.5 miles north of its northern junction with Devils Dyke Road.
Pedestrian access will be maintained.
This Order is necessary to protect public safety and prevent damage to the highway during the holding of the Beachdown Festival 2008.
The Order will come into operation at 0700 hours on Thursday 21 August 2008 and will continue in force until 1800 hours on Tuesday 26 August 2008 unless otherwise stated.
Alternative routes will be signed on site as necessary.
