BEST FLOWER GARDEN / VEGETABLE PLOT COMPETITION 2008

Local Horticulturalist, John Murrell will be doing his rounds of Poynings gardens this July in order to judge best vegetable garden, best flower garden and best hanging baskets and pots. He will judge any garden or allotment that he can see but if you would like him to come into your garden, ring Sheila on 857482.

John is after plant quality rather than tidiness.

Local horticulturalist, John Murrell, was kind enough to visit our front gardens and allotments in 2008. He was looking for plant quality rather than tidiness.

The cups were presented by Parish Council Chairman Mark Lee at the September meeting, with certificates to follow. Next year, John will be visiting in July rather than August.

The pots and hanging baskets were described as ‘a particularly excellent display’, with Mikey Boyton coming a close second in this category.

Well known local horticulturalist John Murrell awarded the best flower garden cup to Betty Powell and the best vegatable plot cup to to Sue Brooks at the Parish Council meeting in September.
