Fundraising for Autism
I am a Poynings resident and I am in the process of raising
money for Autism by trekking the Himalayas.
I am a long way off in terms of fitness and sponsorship
target. My interest was originally personal in that my youngest
son has been diagnosed and I have been touched by the depth of
the issue and the difficulty for families that this
creates.
People with autism are not physically disabled and 'look'
just like anybody without the disability. Due to this invisible
nature it can be much harder to create awareness and
understanding of the condition, so I am doing my bit for the
National Autistic Society! The charity raises awareness;
assists families with diagnosis and support and helps gain
employment for autistic adults.
Hi everyone,
As you may have guessed I have trekked the Himalayas to
raise money for autism. This took place from 21st April to 1
May 2007 and consists of some 75km walking uphill! It was
brilliant.
The good news is I have survived and collect any more
donations!.
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. Please dig deep
and sponsor me online. I am paying all the travel costs so your
entire donation will go to the charity.
Thanks to Andy Couper, Anna and Tony coombs, Bas and Jacqui
Dobson who have donated off-line. A special thanks to the
Shadi Danin Clinic and Wickwoods tennis members who have been
so generous.
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure.
It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: National
Autistic Society will receive your money faster and, if you are
a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift
at no cost to you.
So please sponsor me now!
Many thanks for your support.
I have a fundraising page on http://www.justgiving.com/mike4autism and
I am hoping that the Royal Oak will take a collection tin. Any
contributions that you can make, large or small, will be very
welcome.
As of 28 April 2009 £ 2,875.00 has been
collected
