Minutes of the meeting of
Poynings Parish Council held in the Village Hall on Tuesday
3rd March 2006 at 7pm

1.
Minutes
The minutes of the last
meeting, as circulated, were agreed and signed by the
Chairman.
2.
Matters
arising
(a)
Bus
Stop
The bus stop has been re
sited alongside the shelter.
(b)
Finger
Posts
The Clerk has been in touch
with WSCC Highways about the renovation of the fingerpost
opposite Cora’s Corner and at the junction with Saddlescombe
Road. She is
awaiting a quote and will report back to the Council when
she has more information.
(c) Grange Farm
The Clerk reported that the
Environment Agency has ordered that all movement in and out
of the site be stopped – therefore no more big lorries
should be entering or leaving the site.
(d)
Village
sign
MJ has not yet produced a
design for the proposed village sign. SM is to mention the idea
in the nest issue of the newsletter, asking for ideas for
images.
3.
Planning
Applications
(a)
2 Grange
Cottages – appeal lodged – the Council has nothing
further to add as it did not object to the initial
plans.
(b)
Punnyngs Folly
– siting of temporary mobile home – whilst the Council
had no objections to the application, all agreed that the
time limit of 6 months must not be exceeded. The Council did
question the need for the accommodation.

(a)
Stan
Purdew
Following the death of Stan
it was agreed that the Council should send a donation to The
Martlets in remembrance of Stan’s long life in Poynings and
his service on the Parish Council.
(b)
Parish
Plan
SM updated the Council on the
progress of the Parish Plan, stating that a draft of the
Plan may be sent out with the next
newsletter.
This would keep\production costs down. It is envisaged that
the cost to print / produce the plan will be in the
region of £100. MJ is to arrange a
meeting with Ed Sheath at MSDC to discuss the Design
Statement.

Cemetery
Shed
MJ has fixed a new lock on
the cemetery shed. Thank you.
(d)
Pot
Holes
The Clerk has reported the
various potholes around the village to WSCC Highways, who
will arrange for them to be filled. She also asked them to
re-paint the white centre markings.
(e)
Car
Park
JL reported that one of the
fence posts in the car park has been broken. The Clerk will contact
MSDC re this.
(f)
Devils Dyke
Car Park
JL wondered what the state of
play was regarding the proposed charging at Devil’s Dyke Car
Park. It was
agreed to ask Charlie Cain to the AGM so that we can get an
update on the situation.
(g)
Vicar
The Downland parishes are
pleased to hear that the new vicar will be moving into the
rectory in May.
We look forward to meeting him.

The next meeting of the
Parish Council will be before the AGM on 9th May
at 7pm.
