1. Minutes
The
Minutes of the previous meeting had been circulated. MJ asked that
2(a) be amended with the following added: “MJ raised the issue that he felt the decision to tell Sally Brown she
was not wanted, after many years of supplying food at the firework display, should have been discussed by us as
a council, and decided upon by Councillors, before anything was done”. This was duly added and the Minutes signed by the
Chairman.

3. Planning
(a)
Dyke Farmhouse – fell
trees – this has been passed my MSDC
(b)
Rushfields – Farm Shop –
Rushfields had appealed against the decision to refuse the Farm Shop in the first instance under application
number PN.07.02271.ful. This application has been passed now at
appeal.
4. Expenditure

5. Precept for
2009/10
The
Clerk had circulated projected figures for the next financial year. It was agreed that we should ask for a
10%increase again this year (a total increase of £262.00 = £1 per person) CW proposed this and SM seconded
it.
6. Any Other
Business
(a)
Peter Griffiths asked
whether there was any progress with Mill Close parking. He is to
follow this up at WSCC and the Clerk is to make contact also to check on state of play.
(b)
Finger
Posts
PG said
that we should put in a bid, applications to the community initiative scheme to fund this. The Clerk will action this.
(c)
Speed
Signs
PG asked
whether we felt, a year on, whether the speed signs had made a difference? The general consensus was that they had made a difference. PG is to arrange for speed loops to be installed later in the year to
check.
(d)
Highway
Rangers
We were
encouraged to continue to use this free service. The Clerk advised
that she had sent them a list of jobs around the village for 2009.
(e)
Pot
Holes
The
number to call for pot holes around the village is 01243 642105.
The Clerk has asked again for the pot hole outside the Rectory to be filled again.
(f)
Poynings
Road
MJ said
again about the silting up of Poynings Road from Downmere to Cora’s Corner. The Clerk will arrange to speak to WSCC about this
again.
(g)
B2117
The
Clerk had received a letter from WSCC about the naming of the B2117. WSCC had proposed it be named Brighton Road. It was discussed and agreed that we should ask for it be named as Henfield
Road, MJ insisted that it was called that already.
(h)
Rail Fare
Concessions
It was
agreed that we should continue to offer the subsidy of £5 to senior rail cards. Therefore if parishioners apply for a rail card through the Clerk, it is
£15.40 rather than £20.40. Bus Passes are still available through
the Parish Council and should not be applied for direct to MSDC.
7. Date of Next
Meeting
The next
meeting of the Parish Council will be held in the Village Hall on Tuesday
3rd March at 7pm. All welcome.
The Chairman thanked everyone for attending and closed the meeting at
8.20pm.
