Minutes of the meeting of Poynings Parish Council held in the Village Hall on Tuesday 4th July 2006 at 7pm

1. Minutes
The Minutes of the last meeting, as circulated, were approved and duly signed by the Chairman.
2. Matters Arising
(a) Roundabout
SM said that the snails have now been dealt with and that the planting of spring bulbs and the sowing of summer flowering seeds had been undertaken. SM to discuss acquiring native Sussex daffodil bulbs from JW.
(b) Bottle Bank
Astri Souch had been liaising with MSDC to arrange the siting of the bottle bank in the pub car park. SM is to speak to Ian Burton at MSDC to confirm that a collection service would be provided and to expedite provision of the service.
3. Planning
(a) 1 Dyke Close – proposed 2 storey extension – passed by MSDC
(b) Devils Dyke – proposed promotional sign – refused by MSDC
(c) 2 Grange Lodge Cottages – proposed double storey side extension – appeal has granted permission
(d) Summerdown – proposed reduction of canopy of trees at entrance – passed by MSDC
(e) Rushfields – proposed realignment of drive and extended plant growing and plant sales area – the Council will object to this application with concerns based upon the scale of the extended sales area.

5. Any Other Business
(a) Parish Plan
SM said that although no paper document had been produced as yet, issues that had been raised by the parish questionnaire were being dealt with. Notably provision of a bottle bank, which is in hand, and the erection of a village sign, which is also in hand. The ‘Green’ meeting was very well attended and a further meeting will be organised at a later date. Thanks to SM and her band of helpers for all their continued hard work.
(b) Speed Restrictions
The Parish Council are still awaiting advice from WSCC regarding a speed limit through the village. The Clerk has will chase them and also speak to Peter Griffiths to see if he has any knowledge of the state of play. Once this information is received, it is proposed to hold a Public Meeting to discuss the many and varied enforcement options available.
(c) Old Folks Christmas Party
JL said that this has been planned for 13th December. The Council agreed to make the usual contribution of up to £300 towards the cost of the evening.
(d) Finger Posts
The Clerk has heard nothing from WSCC about this and will chase.
(e) November Meeting
The Chairman of MSDC has asked to attend one of our Parish Council meetings and is due to attend in November.
(f) Headstone
The Clerk has received a request to install a headstone in the cemetery. It was agreed that the headstone should not be taller than 36 inches
6. Date of Next Meeting
The next meeting of the Parish Council will be held on Tuesday 5th September at 7pm.
