The Minutes of the last meeting, as circulated, were approved and duly signed by the Chairman.

2.     Matters Arising

(a)    Village Sign

MJ had expressed concern about a conflict of interest if he was the person to design and make the proposed village sign.  Barry, another blacksmith who lives behind the pub has also been approached to submit a design.  When the Parish Council have received both submissions a decision will be made.

3. Planning

(a)    Punnyngs Folly – siting of a temporary mobile home – this has been passed by MSDC

(b)   1 Dyke Close – proposed two storey extension – no objections were made.

(c)    Devils Dyke – promotional sign – it was agreed to object to this proposal on the grounds that it is out of character and totally unnecessary as the pub is busy enough and has no competitors in the locality of the pub.

5. Any other Business

(a)    Newsletter

Many thanks to SM for producing another informative and interesting newsletter.  SM raised the cost of producing the newsletter. LL offered the facility of black and white copies free of charge and SM had spoken to Colin Warburton about the possible loan of a printer.  It was agreed that this would be discussed further before the next newsletter was due to be published.

(b)   Roundabout

SM said that the plan for the roundabout was to leave the existing planting from Rushfields and to plant snowdrops, daffodils, poppies and cornflowers in order that there will be a show of colour throughout the year. The first job, however, was to get rid of the slugs that have made the roundabout their home by leaving out beer for them!

(c) Bottle bank

Astri Souch advised that a bottle bank is to be sited in the Royal Oak car park.  This has been procured from the Shepherd and Dog and will be in situ soon. Please use this facility.

(d)   Mobile phone mast

SM mentioned that she had heard that a mobile phone mast may be erected on the Poynings / Woodmancote boundary.  The Clerk has heard nothing of this, but will be vigilant.

6. Date of next meeting

The next meeting of the Parish Council will be held in the Village Hall on Tuesday 4th July at 7pm.  All welcome.

The meeting closed at 7.30 and was followed by the Annual Parish Meeting.
