Any Other Business
(a)
Fireworks
Another fantastic firework display that was greatly
supported. A
slight shortfall collected on the gate was covered by a
donation from Sally’s hotdogs and money raised in the pub prior
to the night.
Proposals for next year: perhaps have a clicker on the gate
next year to get an idea of numbers, put sandwich board at
entrance advertising that donations on the gate.
Agreed to book again for the same weekend next year, i.e.
Saturday 1st November 2008.
Thanks to Phil for all his hard work setting up the field, Tony
and Barbara assisting with collections on the gate, Mickey for
his guy, Sheila and Barbara for raising money in the pub prior
to evening and Jim for another fantastic display.
(b)
Parish Plan
Now that the Parish Plan has been published and circulated SM
requested that she be reimbursed for production and circulation
costs. The Parish
Council agreed this. SM to pass invoices to the
clerk.
(c)
Mill Court
MJ said that there have been some problems with post getting
mixed up between Mill Close and Mill Court. MSDC have been approached and
are proposing changing Mill Courts address to Poynings Road
rather than Mill Close. All residents have been
written to asking for their views. It should make a
difference.
(d)
2 School Cottages
As well as the tree being felled the hedge has now been
removed. The Clerk
is to ascertain as to where the Conservation area boundaries
are.
(e)
Football traffic
The Clerk is to contact MSDC regarding the football traffic and
parking at weekends at Mill Close, Poynings Road and the
playing field.
(f)
Rural Issues Workshop
The Clerk is to organise a follow up to the meeting attended by
SM.
(g)
MSDC Garden Party
The Clerk had received a letter of thanks from Peter and Jenny
Bonner. They had
enjoyed a lovely afternoon at Danny House, nominated for their
services to the Church during their time in
Poynings.
(h)
Gina Field
Explained what can and cannot be put into the various new bins
that we have. She
offered a meeting to the Parish to explain to all, but it was
agreed that generally people had adjusted quite well to the new
system.
Princess Royal Campaign – thanks to Poynings for putting up PRH
Banners. All were
encouraged to complete the option form – option four is the
preferred option.
New Housing – this still rumbles on as to whether we will have
to accommodate any further development in Poynings or the
Downland Parishes.
Hassocks Station – there will be more regular trains stopping
at Hassocks, running north and south. Also the late night train on
Friday and Saturday evenings has been reinstated from
9th December. Full details in the Middy and
South Downs Living.
