Minutes of the meeting of Poynings Parish Council held in the Village Hall on Tuesday 8th September 2009

Five members of the public attended. 

 

The Chairman opened the meeting and presented Mrs June Nunne with the cup and certificate for the Best Flower Garden in this years competition judged by John Murrell.  The cups and certificates for Best Hanging Baskets / pots (John Mason) and Vegetable Garden (Jan Nicols and Keith Fowers) will be presented in November. 

 

1.        Minutes 

The Minutes of the previous meeting had been circulated.  It was agreed they were a correct record and were duly signed by the Chairman.

 

2.        Matters Arising 

(a)          Fingerpost 

The Clerk has made contact with the company recommended by WSCC.  A quote had been received and the Clerk is to confirm that the work is to be undertaken as soon as possible.  The old post will be given to Newtimber PC to replace the old and broken one at the top of the Causeway.  Newtimber PC will arrange for it to be renovated. 

   

(b)         Mill Close Parking 

The Clerk had spoken to Neil Smith from WSCC Highways and he said that the proposal would be classed as a minor improvement and would therefore need to be paid for by Section 106 funds.  We will arrange to get some more quotes for the removal of the earth and go from there.  Not looking very promising as yet. 

 

3. Planning 

(a)          Rushfield Paddock – amended plans had been received – no objections were raised 

(b)         Rushfields – amended plans had been received – the Council will make comments on this application 

(c)          Downlands – removal of 2 walnut trees – after considerable discussion it was agreed that the Council would make no comment on this application. 

(d)     Glebe Cottage – erection of 2 x 2bed cottages and demolition of existing garage – this has been refused by MSDC 

 

4. Expenditure 

    The following amounts were authorised for the period July and August 2009

 5. Any Other Business 

(a)  Fireworks 

The Fireworks have been booked for Saturday 7th November.  Usual timings.  All burnable rubbish to be delivered to Blacksmiths field asap.  Poynings CC are to do the catering again this year. 

(b) Beachdown Festival 

As everyone is aware, the proposed festival was cancelled at the last minute. GF advised that MSDC expenditure incurred would have to be funded by Council Tax. 

(c)  Tree Warden 

Mrs Comber asked why there was no tree warden in Poynings.  She was advised that no one wanted to undertake the task. 

 
6. Date of next meeting. 

The date of the next meeting is to be Tuesday 10th November 2009 at 7pm..  All Welcome. 

 

The Chairman thanked everyone for coming and closed the meeting at 9.00pm.
